About this viz: This wrapped tile chart shows maternal and paternal at participant's birth by participant age at study enrollment (1995-1996). Grouping participants by decade of age highlights differences and commonalities in parental age pairings.
The colors within the chart represent how high (orange) or low (blue) the percentage was for that maternal-paternal age pairing. For example, participants under 40 at study enrollment had the highest percentage of parents who were both under 25 when the participant was born, while older participants had a greater percentage of older fathers as compared to younger participants. This viz does not account for birth order, i.e., whether the participant was the first-born of their parents.
