Huiyan Ma

Huiyan Ma, Ph.D. is an Assistant Research Professor at the City of Hope National Medical Center. She has served as the lead manager of all databases that constitute the California Teachers Study since 2008.
In addition to leading data management, she is continuing her research in the epidemiology of women's cancers. Her primary research interests include identification of risk factors for different subtypes of breast cancer defined by biomarkers and understanding the roles of complementary and alternative medicine among breast cancer survivors.
Dr. Ma earned her MD in 1983 and her first master's degree in Biometry in 1990 from Shandong Medical University, China. She received her second master’s degree in Applied Biometry and Epidemiology in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology in 2006 from the University of Southern California.
