Ellen Chang

Dr. Ellen Chang is currently a Research Scientist in Epidemiology at the Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC), a Consulting Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Research and Policy at the Stanford School of Medicine, and Chief Epidemiologist at the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University. Dr. Chang earned her Sc.D. in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2003, then spent two years as post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Karolinska Institute. Her primary scientific interest is to investigate the etiology of infection-associated cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphomas, Hodgkin lymphoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. She is also interested in understanding and preventing the development of cancer among Asians, who are disproportionately affected by several infection-associated malignancies. Dr. Chang also works with several other research scientists at the Cancer Prevention Institute of California to conduct cancer surveillance research within the Greater Bay Area Cancer Registry and the California Cancer Registry, with a particular focus on understanding racial/ethnic disparities in cancer incidence and mortality.
